Plymouth Diving Report

Easter 2006

Both club RIBs travelled to Plymouth on the Bank Holiday Weekend, together with James F, Spencer, Tom, Pete A, Sally M, Carol, Louise, Chris, Richard P, Ray R, Graham W, Nigel, Rob A, and of course, the Weapon!

We stayed at Caravans in Bovisand, only a few minutes drive from the Mountbatten Centre where we launched.

We dived at Mew Stone on Friday because it was a little rough, but it was a good dive, and there was even rumours of treasure being spotted!

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, there were many dives on the James Eagan Layne and the Scylla.  The James Eagan Layne is a liberty ship sunk in 1945, and is remarkably intact, especially at the bow section (the torpedo hit the stern).  Below you can find two of the photos taken by Spencer of James on the James Eagan Layne, I have many more, contact me if you would like to see them, or full resolution versions of these.  As you can see from the photos, we had good visibility through the weekend.

We finished the weekend with a night dive in Bovisand Bay, a very convenient walk from the caravans where we were staying.

We all had a great weekend, thanks to James for the organisation.
