Pete A Reports on the Farne Islands Diving Trip, on 28-30 May 2005

Some of the photos I took when we went to the Farne Islands on the 27th, 28th and 29th May this year are below.  Janet W organised the trip and apart from the weather (pretty windy all three days) it was an excellent trip.

We managed to get out 2 of the three days and did 2 dives a day. 3 scenic dives with loads of “dead mans fingers”, Plumose Anemones, Sea Urchins and Star fish etc. But because of the amount of ships that have hit the reefs over the years the sea-bed is littered with bits of wreckage, boilers etc. We also dived on the wreck “Somali” in about 28 mtrs, which was interesting. We also saw plenty of seals, but unfortunately not in the water, they must have heard of our appetite for “fresh meat”!

We dived on “Sovereign 2” out of Sea Houses and the boat was filled with Eastleigh BSAC members, not bad when you think that at the same time there was a diving week-end organised out of Kimmeridge.
